Top 5: Hotels in the Middle East

Luxury hotels are a mainstay of Middle East hospitality for both corporates and leisure travellers alike. We take a look at Trip Advisor’s Top 25 list of hotels in the Middle East and a more in-depth look at the top 5.

5. The Oberoi, Sahl Hasheesh

The Oberoi, Sahl Hasheesh is part of The Oberoi Group which was founded in 1934. The Oberoi Group owns 31 hotels in six countries. The Oberoi, Sahl Hasheesh is a hotel with 102 rooms that is located along the shoreline of the Red Sea in Hurghada in Egypt. It is just 30 minutes from the centre of Hurghada.

The hotel features all-suite rooms and was inspired by traditional Arabic design. It is situated on 48 acres of land and has a large private beach. The hotel also has an all-weather tennis court and offers a large selection of certified diving courses such as open water, adventure, rescue and master instruction.

The hotel also has The Oberoi Spa which features a steam room, a private garden and individual therapy rooms for Balinese, Thai and signature Oberoi treatments. There is also a fitness suite (which has a full range of weights and machines) and a 43 metre outdoor swimming pool (which has two whirlpools) that has swimming areas for both adults and children.

4. Pineland Hotel and Health Resort

Established in 2003, Pineland Hotel and Health Resort is situated in over 250,000 square meters of nature-land in Deir El Harf in Lebanon. The hotel is only a 45-minute car ride from the capital city of Lebanon, Beirut.

The four-and-a-half-star hotel has 46 rooms and prices range from £89 to £225 (based on the average rates for a standard room).

The hotel has two conference rooms, a banquet hall that can hold more than 500 guests, four restaurant areas, pub, lounge area, tennis court, business centre, spa, fitness centre with a gym/workout room, Wi-Fi and much more.

3. Jumeirah Dar Al Masyaf at Madinat Jumeirah

The Jumeirah Dar Al Masyaf is located in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates. It is a five-star hotel with 283 luxury rooms.

The hotel includes a pool, restaurant, fitness centre, gym/workout room, bar/lounge, spa, hot tub and tennis court. The hotel also has many different services such as conference facilities, a shuttle bus service, babysitting services, multilingual staff, dry cleaning service and many more.

There are also 29 summer houses with exclusive pools and guests also get complimentary access to both Sinbad’s Kids Club and Wild Wadi Waterpark.

Prices range from £255 to £1,132 (based on the average rates for one of their standard rooms).

Dubai’s longest private beach is only a few steps away.

2. Market House Tel Aviv Jaffa – An Atlas Boutique Hotel

The Market House Tel Aviv Jaffa is located in Tel Aviv in Israel. It is on Beit Eshel Street and is next to the Jaffa Clock and is part of the Atlas Hotels group.

Guests staying at the hotel will see ruins from a Byzantine Chapel through the glass floor in the lobby of which the hotel still contains the archaeological remains.

The hotel has 44 rooms (of which many have balconies) that overlook the market’s surrounding the hotel.

The hotel offers its guests free Wi-Fi and bicycle rentals.

1. Al Maha, A Luxury Collection Desert Resort & Spa

Situated in Murqquab in the United Arab Emirates, Al Maha Desert Resort and Spa is the top hotel on Trip Advisors list and is just a 50-minute drive from Downtown Dubai.

According to the Al Maha website, 96 percent of their guests would recommend the hotel, however; children under 10 are not allowed.

Suites at the hotel come with a view of the desert, a private pool and a deck.

The hotel includes a 24-hour concierge service, a spa, gift shop, a conservation reserve, restaurants and bars and even free Wi-Fi for its guests.

The hotel has won a host of awards such as the ‘Best Resort Hotel in Dubai’ and ‘Best Resort Hotel in Arabia’ by the International Hospitality and Property Awards in 2011. The hotel was also ranked in a Top 20 list by Condé Nast Traveler.
